LINCOLN COUNTY, Ore. – A 29-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning after a high-speed chase that spanned several miles on Highway 20, following a fatal shooting at a Depoe Bay business on January 30.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire at the Four Winds Inn, located on Highway 101, at 10:17 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies found 44-year-old Sarabjit Singh, the business owner, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators later identified the suspect as 29-year-old Brennon Michael Neal, also from Depoe Bay.
After the shooting, Neal fled the scene in a dark grey sedan. Law enforcement agencies quickly alerted surrounding areas to be on the lookout for the suspect’s vehicle. At approximately 11:16 a.m., a sergeant with the Toledo Police Department spotted Neal’s car traveling eastbound on Highway 20. When deputies attempted to stop Neal, he refused to pull over, sparking a pursuit that reached speeds of about 35 miles per hour.
The chase continued for several miles until Neal’s tires were damaged by spike strips deployed by law enforcement. Despite the damage, Neal persisted in driving eastbound for several more miles. The pursuit ended when officers from Oregon State Police used a patrol vehicle to force Neal to stop.
Neal was taken into custody without further incident. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with authorities from multiple agencies, including the Corvallis Police Department, Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Newport Police Department, and Lincoln City Police Department, providing assistance in the case.
