Astoria, OR – Astoria firefighters responded to an unusual rescue on the Fourth of July after a young deer became stranded on the roof of a building.
According to the Astoria Fire Department, crews safely assisted the animal after discovering it had somehow made its way onto the rooftop and was unable to get down on its own.
The department described the incident as an uncommon call, noting that rescues like this are far from routine.
After safely removing the deer from the roof, firefighters took the opportunity to remind residents to stay safe during the holiday weekend.
“If you find yourself stuck on a roof, we’ll come get you also!” the department joked in its social media post while wishing the community a happy Fourth of July.
No injuries to the deer or firefighters were reported.
