ROSEBURG, Ore. – A Roseburg man was arrested early Monday morning after allegedly striking multiple vehicles and a telephone pole while driving impaired, then fleeing the scene of the accidents. The incident occurred on February 10, when officers with the Roseburg Police Department responded to a hit-and-run call around 3:12 a.m. in the 300 block of Southeast Lane Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an unoccupied 2010 Nissan Rogue with extensive front-end damage. The driver, identified as 71-year-old David Grant Tollefson of Roseburg, was located a short distance away. Authorities reported that Tollefson exhibited signs of impairment. He consented to standard field sobriety tests but reportedly performed poorly, prompting his arrest.

Investigators revealed that Tollefson had struck three vehicles and a telephone pole before fleeing the scene of the collisions. During his arrest, officers found approximately 76.78 grams of methamphetamine in his possession.

A search warrant for a blood draw was obtained, and Tollefson was transported to Mercy Medical Center for the procedure. He was later taken to Douglas County Jail.

Tollefson faces several charges, including unlawful possession of methamphetamine, driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), reckless driving, and four counts of failure to perform duties of a driver with property damage. He was released from custody on February 11, according to jail records.

The case remains under investigation.
