EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a shooting that resulted in the death of 24-year-old Bryon Jivan Fitzgerald earlier this year.

On April 16, the Eugene Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit announced the arrest of Levi Rosenthal Eva, who was taken into custody on charges related to the fatal incident. According to investigators, the shooting occurred on March 3 near the intersection of East 23rd Avenue and Willamette Street. Fitzgerald was transported to a nearby hospital following the shooting, but later succumbed to his injuries.

Eva has been charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, and unlawful use of a weapon. The arrest comes after an extensive investigation by Eugene police, who believe Eva played a significant role in Fitzgerald’s death.

As part of the investigation, detectives also executed a search warrant at a residence in south Eugene. Authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, and further details may be released as they continue to gather evidence.

Detectives are urging anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward. Those with relevant details are asked to contact Detective Cooper via email or by calling 541-682-5187. Police have referenced case number 25-03498 for those wishing to assist in the investigation.

The arrest of Levi Rosenthal Eva marks a key development in a case that has drawn attention in the Eugene community. As police work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragic event, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any relevant information.
