EUGENE, Ore. – A 44-year-old Eugene man was arrested Sunday evening after being caught allegedly exposing himself in front of Amazon Park, according to the Eugene Police Department (EPD).
The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on February 22, when a police officer, who was responding to an unrelated service call, reportedly witnessed the man exposing himself on Hilyard Street, near the park. The officer made a U-turn to return to the scene and subsequently made contact with the suspect, identified as Hobson Matthew Mason.
At the time, the officer was unaware that Mason’s behavior had been the subject of multiple complaints earlier that day, beginning around 4 p.m. However, further investigation revealed that Mason was a registered sex offender, currently on post-prison supervision for a felony conviction related to indecent exposure.
Mason was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail, where he faces charges of indecent exposure and failure to report as a sex offender. Jail records indicate that he remains in custody as of February 24, 2025.
The investigation continues as authorities work to determine whether Mason may be linked to other similar incidents in the area.
