BOZEMAN, Mont. – According to a press release by the Bozeman Police Department, on December 13 at approximately 10:38 p.m., Bozeman Police Officers were dispatched to a residence at the 2200 block of Buckrake Avenue in Bozeman. Law enforcement officers were responding to a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived on scene and spoke to witnesses, they were told that Cyrus Mimbs, an 18 year old male, had stabbed another male several times before leaving the residence and fleeing on foot.
Bozeman Police officers responded quickly and were able to locate Mimbs a short time after, not far from the residence. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody, and is currently being held at the Gallatin County Detention Center.
The 19 year old male victim was transported to the hospital and is currently being treated for multiple stab wounds and other injuries. No other injuries have been reported and there are no other public safety concerns, according to the Bozeman Police Department.
Additional law enforcement agencies, including the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office and the Montana State University Police Department assisted the Bozeman Police Department in the case.
Bozeman Police Department Detective Captain Cory Klumb said that he’s proud of how Bozeman Police Department officers handled the situation in order to prevent additional injuries.
The suspect is expected to make his initial appearance in court on Monday afternoon and will face charges of attempted homicide.
