PORTLAND, Ore. — An AMR ambulance was involved in a crash early Friday morning, reportedly triggered by an aggressive road rage incident, according to Portland Police officers.

The crash occurred around 1:45 a.m. near the intersection of Northeast 121st Avenue and Sandy Boulevard. Initially, the ambulance crew contacted police, reporting a suspicious van tailgating and yelling at them. Officers were en route to the scene when the situation escalated further.

According to police, the van driver “aggressively pulled in front of the ambulance and braked,” causing the ambulance driver to slam on their brakes to avoid a collision. The sudden stop resulted in several vehicles behind the ambulance rear-ending it.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the crash. The ambulance crew was unharmed, and despite the tense circumstances, all parties involved walked away without medical attention.

After the incident, police searched for the van driver but were unable to locate the individual. The aggressive behavior of the van driver, who has not yet been identified, left authorities with little to pursue immediately.

In the aftermath, one of the drivers involved in the subsequent rear-end collision was cited for failure to carry proof of insurance. While the cause of the crash has been linked to the road rage incident, police have not announced any further details regarding the investigation.

This incident underscores the unpredictable nature of road rage and the potential dangers it poses not only to ordinary drivers but also to emergency responders. While no one was injured, the crash highlights the risks faced by first responders in the line of duty and the importance of staying calm and responsible behind the wheel.

Portland Police continue to investigate the incident, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
