EUGENE, Ore. – A Eugene man has been formally arraigned on charges of murder after authorities say he shot and killed his two elderly parents on Sunday. The suspect, Christopher Allan Turner, 59, is accused of the deaths of his parents, Paul Allan Turner, 89, and Beverly Jean Turner, 84.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call just after 3 p.m. on February 23, reporting deceased individuals and someone in cardiac arrest at a home on McGowan Creek Road. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the bodies of the two elderly victims, who had been shot multiple times. Christopher Turner was also found at the residence and was detained for questioning.

An investigation led by Lane County deputies determined that Christopher Turner was responsible for the deaths. He was arrested and booked into jail on two charges of first-degree murder.

Turner was formally arraigned on the charges on February 25. However, he did not appear in person at the court proceedings. Instead, Turner appeared via video link, as he is currently receiving medical treatment at McKenzie-Willamette Hospital. The exact nature of his medical condition has not been disclosed.

Court records indicate that Turner was appointed a public defender on February 25. His next court date has yet to be scheduled.

The deaths of Paul and Beverly Turner have left the community in shock, as family tragedies like this are often unexpected and unsettling. The investigation into the events leading up to the shooting continues, but the motive remains unclear at this time.

As the case progresses through the legal system, authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
