CHARLESTON, Ore. – A Coos County man was arrested late Tuesday night following a physical altercation at a Charleston home, according to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a fight at a residence on Walker Lane in Charleston around 11:37 p.m. on January 14, 2025. Upon arrival, they contacted 35-year-old Michael Hashberger, who was allegedly involved in the incident and had been drinking. Authorities determined that an argument between Hashberger and the victim escalated into a physical confrontation. The victim suffered minor injuries during the altercation.
Deputies also noted that minor children were present in the home at the time of the incident. Hashberger was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail, where he faces a felony charge of fourth-degree assault as domestic violence. Jail records indicate Hashberger remained in custody as of January 15, 2025.
The Coos County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone experiencing domestic disputes or violence to seek help and report such incidents to law enforcement.
