The Astoria Police Department, supported by a grant from Oregon Impact, will conduct targeted crosswalk enforcement citywide to enhance pedestrian and driver safety

The Astoria Police Department wants to alert area residents to ongoing phone scams in which suspects pose as members of law enforcement to coerce victims into giving them money

Astoria, OR – According to the police officials, on May 23, 2024, additional officers will be deployed for a pedestrian safety enforcement program.

The focus will be on drivers failing to yield to officers posing as pedestrians at marked and unmarked crosswalks, as well as those passing vehicles stopped for pedestrians.

Violations may incur a fine of $265.00.

Enforcement will concentrate on key intersections, including Marine Dr. & 6th St., Marine Dr. & 17th St., Marine Dr. & 10th St., Klaskanine Ave. & 7th St., and Lief Erikson Dr. & 37th St.
