Pedestrian died from injuries after being struck in the crosswalk at 17th and Marine Drive, police officials said

Pedestrian died from injuries after being struck in the crosswalk at 17th and Marine Drive, police officials said

Astoria, OR – According to the police officials, the fatal incident occurred at 11:47 p.m. Friday morning.

It happened at 17th and Marine Drive.

The Astoria Police Department, Astoria Fire Department and Medix Ambulance responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic crash.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Columbia Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

While the investigation is ongoing, preliminary investigation indicates that the victim, 79-year-old Edward Mosey was crossing in a crosswalk from south to north at Marine Dr. and 17th street when he was struck by a 2016 Honda CRV operated by 70-year-old Yvonna Soule.

Soule remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
