Coos County, OR – A 21-year-old man was arrested late Monday night following a domestic disturbance at a North Bend residence, according to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office. The incident, which involved minor children, led to multiple criminal charges against the suspect, identified as Jason L. Nofziger.
Deputies were called to the scene at approximately 11:30 p.m. on January 20 after a woman reported the disturbance at a home on Spinreel Road. The female caller informed dispatchers that her husband, Nofziger, was the suspect and that their children were present in the home at the time. As deputies were working to gather more details, the call was unexpectedly disconnected when the caller began to yell at someone, prompting concern for the safety of those involved.
An Oregon State Police Trooper was the first to arrive at the scene and made contact with Nofziger, who was reportedly uncooperative. Law enforcement officials said Nofziger became combative with the trooper, leading to his detention just before deputies arrived.
Following further interviews with witnesses and the involved parties, deputies arrested Nofziger and transported him to the Coos County Jail. He was booked on several charges, including felony fourth-degree domestic assault in the presence of minor children, domestic strangulation, and two counts of interfering with making a report.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities continue to assess the situation.
