CORVALLIS, Ore. – Firefighters successfully contained a house fire to the room in which it started and rescued several pets early Monday morning, after a smoke detector woke up the resident.
At approximately 2:38 a.m. on February 24, Corvallis Fire Department received a report of a house fire. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found the home’s resident had already evacuated, but heavy smoke was pouring out of a window. Crews immediately entered the building, swiftly containing the blaze to the room where it originated.
Several pets, including birds and a rabbit, were inside the home at the time of the fire. Firefighters were able to rescue all of them, ensuring their safety despite the smoky conditions.
According to the Corvallis Fire Department, the early alert from the smoke detector played a crucial role in preventing the fire from spreading beyond the initial room. The department stressed the importance of ensuring smoke detectors are functional and urged residents to avoid storing gasoline in living spaces.
The fire department’s quick response and successful containment serve as a reminder of the critical role safety measures play in preventing tragedy during emergencies. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the homeowner and pets were unharmed.
