EUGENE, Ore. — A 38-year-old Eugene man was arrested Monday after arranging online to meet a child under the age of 16 for sexual activity, according to the Eugene Police Department.
Frank Vincent Nelson allegedly attempted to travel to Eugene recently to meet the minor, but the meeting was interrupted when he was arrested by another agency on unrelated charges. After his release, Nelson resumed communication and made new arrangements to meet the child.
Detectives from the Eugene Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit confronted Nelson on May 26 at the arranged meeting spot, blocking his vehicle and taking him into custody without incident.
Nelson was booked into Lane County Jail and faces several charges, including first- and second-degree online sexual corruption of a minor and luring a minor. Jail records show that he remains in custody as of May 30.
Authorities continue to investigate the case.
