EUGENE, Ore. – A Eugene man is behind bars following a lengthy investigation into a string of burglaries that targeted businesses and food carts across the city over a span of several months.

The Eugene Police Department announced the arrest of 55-year-old Raymond Joseph Janczyk, who is suspected of committing a series of break-ins that began in September 2024. According to authorities, detectives from the department’s Property Crimes Unit launched an investigation after receiving multiple reports of burglaries involving both brick-and-mortar establishments and mobile food vendors.

Over the next six months, police gathered evidence including images of potential suspects and continued receiving new reports from additional victims. Eventually, detectives identified Janczyk as a key suspect in the case.

On April 23, 2025, Janczyk was located at a residence in West Eugene. With assistance from a K-9 unit, officers took him into custody without incident. At the time of his arrest, Janczyk was wanted on existing warrants for second-degree theft and a parole violation. He was also booked on charges related to domestic violence, including domestic abuse menacing and fourth-degree assault.

Following his arrest, Janczyk was formally charged with nine counts of second-degree burglary and nine counts of second-degree criminal mischief. He also faces single counts of first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal trespass, and second-degree attempted burglary.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as more evidence is reviewed.

Authorities are encouraging any business owners or food cart operators who believe they may have been victims of related crimes to contact the Eugene Police Department.
