COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – A months-long investigation culminated in the dismantling of an illegal Butane Hash Oil (BHO) lab east of Cottage Grove, with two individuals taken into custody earlier this month.

On March 5, deputies and detectives from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) executed a search warrant at a residence on Woodson Lane. The investigation, sparked by tips about illegal drug activities at the property, revealed that the house was operating a BHO extraction lab—an extremely hazardous operation that can result in catastrophic explosions.

According to the LCSO, BHO labs, which use butane to extract concentrated THC from cannabis, are notorious for the dangers they pose. Deputies worked swiftly to dismantle the lab during the raid, preventing further risks to the surrounding area.

In addition to the hazardous lab setup, authorities discovered 1.6 pounds of suspected cocaine and a stolen firearm at the scene. As a result, Jonathan Tyler Sirois, 38, was arrested on charges including unlawful manufacture, possession, and delivery of marijuana; unlawful possession and delivery of cocaine; and first-degree theft. Brandon Charles Shaneyfelt, 35, was also taken into custody on charges related to the unlawful manufacture, possession, and delivery of marijuana.

The LCSO confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward. Tips can be reported to the LCSO at 541-682-4141, referencing case number 25-0250.

As the investigation continues, authorities are warning the public about the dangers associated with illegal drug labs and the serious risks they pose to both law enforcement and the community.
