EUGENE, Ore. — A shooting near East 23rd Avenue and Willamette Street in Eugene on Monday afternoon left one person injured and prompted an active investigation by the Eugene Police Department (EPD).
According to EPD, officers responded to the scene at approximately 3:11 p.m. after reports of a shooting involving two individuals who were known to each other. One person was transported to a local hospital with injuries, though their condition has not yet been disclosed.
The University of Oregon issued an alert shortly after the incident, at 3:23 p.m., advising students to avoid the area as law enforcement worked to secure the scene.
At present, EPD’s Violent Crimes Unit is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No arrests have been reported at this time.
