Astoria, OR – Oregon State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred earlier this week on Highway 228 in Linn County, which claimed the life of a woman. The crash took place just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday near milepost 10, when a Chevy pickup truck, driven by Natosha Lynn Wells, reportedly crossed the center line and collided with a Chevy car driven by Kylie Rae Campbell. Tragically, Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Recent court filings have revealed new details about the ongoing investigation, indicating that Wells may have been under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the crash. According to the documents, when officers arrived at the scene, they observed Wells displaying signs of impairment, including slurred speech, droopy eyelids, and the smell of alcohol. In addition, Wells reportedly admitted to taking pills when speaking with troopers.

In response to the suspicion of intoxication, authorities filed a search warrant to obtain a blood and urine sample from Wells. This will help determine whether alcohol, prescription drugs, or other substances may have contributed to the crash.

At this time, no charges have been filed against Wells, and the investigation is ongoing. Oregon State Police continue to gather evidence and evaluate the circumstances surrounding the crash, which remains a devastating loss for the family and friends of Kylie Rae Campbell.

The community is left to mourn, and authorities are urging anyone with information related to the crash to come forward as they work toward determining the full details of this tragic event.
