YONCALLA, Ore. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has released the identities of the victims involved in a murder-suicide that occurred two weeks ago in Yoncalla. On February 8, authorities confirmed that 68-year-old Steven Curtis Bolin and his 62-year-old wife, Michelle Bolin, were the individuals found deceased at their home on Williams Road.
The incident was discovered on the night of January 31, when a welfare check was requested after Michelle Bolin failed to show up for work. At approximately 10:20 p.m., deputies arrived at the home and, upon gaining forced entry, discovered the two adults with apparent gunshot wounds. Both were confirmed dead at the scene.
Following an investigation, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office determined that the incident stemmed from a domestic violence dispute, with Steven Curtis Bolin fatally shooting his wife before turning the gun on himself.
The investigation was supported by the Oregon State Police, Sutherlin Police Department, and North Douglas County Fire and EMS.
Authorities continue to remind the public of the dangers of domestic violence and encourage individuals to seek help if they or someone they know is in an abusive relationship.
This incident is under further investigation, and no additional details have been provided by officials at this time.
