PORTLAND, Ore. — A 28-year-old Portland man was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with two armed robberies at Dotty’s bars in Washington County. Marshall C. Richmond IV was taken into custody by the Beaverton Police Department and faces multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree robbery.
According to investigators, Richmond is accused of committing the first robbery just after midnight on Monday at a Dotty’s location in Tualatin. He reportedly entered the bar at 19287 SW Martinazz Ave, armed with what appeared to be a gun, and demanded that an employee open the safe and register. Richmond allegedly stole cash and lottery tickets before fleeing the scene on foot. Despite a response from Tualatin police, the suspect was able to evade capture, though surveillance footage and witness descriptions were collected.
Just over an hour later, Richmond is believed to have struck again, this time at the Dotty’s in Beaverton, located at 14304 SW Allen Blvd. At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Richmond allegedly entered the bar, once again armed with a handgun, and began demanding money. However, an employee at the Beaverton location recognized Richmond from the previous robbery’s surveillance footage and quickly alerted police while he was still inside the store.
Beaverton officers arrived within minutes of the call, and when Richmond exited the store, they ordered him to surrender. Instead, Richmond fled on foot, still armed with the gun. Police quickly initiated a search, and with the help of a K9 unit, officers were able to locate and arrest Richmond shortly thereafter.
Richmond was transported to the Washington County Jail, where he remains in custody. Authorities believe he may be linked to other similar robberies in the Portland metro area and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone with details about the robberies is encouraged to contact the Beaverton Police Department.
