Sweet Home, OR — A 40-year-old Sweet Home man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the alleged murder of his girlfriend, 30-year-old Mariah A. King, and for charges related to the abuse of her corpse.
Jerod L. Norman was taken into custody by officers from the Sweet Home Police Department (SHPD) following an extensive, months-long investigation into King’s death. The victim’s body was discovered at the residence on Nandina Street, which Norman and King had shared. Authorities have since confirmed that King’s death was the result of foul play, leading to Norman’s arrest.
The SHPD has notified King’s family members about the arrest, offering them support as the investigation continues. In addition to Norman’s arrest, investigators are actively seeking to make contact with Norman’s father, 65-year-old David L. Norman, for a secondary interview as part of their ongoing inquiry.
Details surrounding the circumstances of King’s death have not been fully disclosed, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to gather more information and build a clearer picture of the events leading up to her tragic death.
