Astoria, OR – A man has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria, claiming that a doctor performed unnecessary and painful medical procedures that resulted in significant physical suffering and financial costs. Thor Norgaard, the plaintiff in the case, is seeking $3 million in economic damages and up to $160,000 in noneconomic damages for pain and suffering.

In his lawsuit, Norgaard alleges that the procedures were performed without proper medical necessity, causing him undue harm. He contends that the actions taken by the doctor not only caused physical pain but also led to substantial medical bills and other economic losses.

The legal complaint, which was filed in the Clatsop County Circuit Court, accuses Columbia Memorial Hospital and the unnamed doctor of failing to meet the standard of care expected in medical practice. Norgaard’s attorneys argue that the procedures performed were both unnecessary and excessive, leading to prolonged physical and emotional distress.

As part of the lawsuit, Norgaard is seeking financial compensation to cover his medical expenses, lost wages, and other financial damages related to the alleged malpractice. Additionally, the plaintiff is requesting compensation for the noneconomic damages suffered, including emotional anguish and physical pain.

The case has drawn attention to issues of medical accountability, as patients continue to seek justice for perceived mistreatment. Columbia Memorial Hospital has not yet issued a public statement regarding the lawsuit.

The outcome of this case could have significant implications for both the hospital and the healthcare professionals involved.
