Astoria, OR – According to the state officials, construction is scheduled to take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, for about three weeks.
The work zone will extend more than a mile through the center of the city, from Garrison Slough to Cemetery Loop Road (milepost 300.0-301.3).
U.S. 101 drivers can expect lane closures and delays with flaggers providing traffic control. Some side streets may be closed when contractors are paving through an intersection. Detour routes will be provided, and drivers should watch for roadside message boards.
Tidewater Contractors plan to begin paving at the south end of the work zone and work their way north.
The paving work is part of a $4.35 million project that replaced dozens of ADA curb ramps and added pedestrian crossings and streetlights at several locations in Port Orford. All work, including final striping of the new asphalt, is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.
