PORTLAND, Ore. – A woman is dead after being hit by a car in Southeast Portland on Sunday evening, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).

The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard near Southeast Boise Street. Upon arrival, officers found the woman suffering from serious injuries. She was immediately transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with authorities as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police have not released the identity of the victim or the driver at this time.

As the investigation continues, Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard has been closed to traffic between Southeast Gladstone Street and Southeast Holgate Boulevard. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

The Portland Police Bureau is asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist with their investigation.

This marks the latest in a series of traffic-related fatalities in the city, and authorities are urging both pedestrians and drivers to exercise caution in the coming months.
