FLORENCE, Ore. – A 58-year-old Westlake woman was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly stabbing another person during an argument at a home south of Florence. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 9 p.m. on April 8, following reports of a violent altercation that led to the stabbing.

Authorities say the incident occurred at a residence on Canary Road, where a dispute between two individuals escalated into violence. One person sustained multiple injuries, including cuts to their face and a puncture wound to their leg. Deputies also discovered a second individual in a nearby vehicle, but no further details have been released regarding their involvement in the incident.

Due to limited staffing and the distance from previous calls, law enforcement took approximately 40 minutes to arrive at the scene. Upon investigation, deputies identified the suspect as Carrie Jean Hogan of Westlake. She was taken into custody without incident.

Hogan was subsequently transported to the Lane County Jail and is facing charges of second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. The sheriff’s office has not released additional details about the nature of the argument or the relationship between the involved parties.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials have urged anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.

This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
