Eugene, OR – A pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash early Friday morning on West 11th Avenue, prompting a temporary closure of the roadway while police investigated the incident.
According to the Eugene Police Department (EPD), officers responded to a 911 call just before 3:30 a.m. on January 3, reporting a person lying in the roadway at the intersection of West 11th Avenue and Oak Patch Road. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered that the victim had been struck by a vehicle.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, sustained life-threatening injuries and was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities later located the driver involved in the crash, who had returned to the scene after parts of their vehicle were found at the site. The investigation led to the closure of both eastbound lanes of West 11th Avenue for several hours while police processed the scene.
By 7:30 a.m., both lanes of the roadway had reopened to traffic. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and no further details have been provided at this time.
Drivers in the area were urged to avoid the closure and seek alternate routes during the investigation.
