Lane County, OR— A 58-year-old man was found dead inside his home on Wednesday, January 8, 2024, after a fire broke out in the residence. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) responded to the incident, which occurred in the 95400 block of Noraton Road, north of Junction City, around 7:00 p.m.

According to officials, the fire department requested assistance from LCSO deputies at the scene. Fire personnel confirmed that one person was found dead inside the home. The deceased was later identified as Gordon Dale Dawson, 58, by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and authorities are working closely with the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

At this time, details regarding the origin of the fire and whether it was accidental or intentional have not been released. Investigators are continuing their work at the site, and the sheriff’s office has urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward.

The community remains in shock over the tragedy, as friends and neighbors express their condolences for the loss of Dawson.
