Asoria, OR – The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a man in connection with an attempted kidnapping that occurred earlier this week at a bus stop in Happy Valley.
On Tuesday morning, a female student, on her way to New Urban High School, reported an alarming encounter at a bus stop located on Southeast Monterey Avenue near Southeast 90th Avenue. According to the victim, a man approached her and attempted to lure her into his vehicle. Fortunately, the student was able to get on her bus and immediately reported the incident to the driver, who then contacted authorities.
In the aftermath, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation and issued a description of the suspect as a Hispanic man, approximately in his 40s or 50s, driving a beige or champagne-colored Kia Rio. Deputies quickly began their search, hoping to locate the individual responsible for the disturbing encounter.
The following day, on Wednesday, deputies located and pulled over a beige Kia Rio at the intersection of Southeast Monterey Avenue and Southeast 85th Avenue, an area close to where the incident took place. After conducting a stop, authorities confirmed that they believed the driver was the suspect in question.
While the suspect’s name has not been released to the public, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has stated that the individual will be booked into the Clackamas County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities continue to emphasize the importance of public awareness in preventing such incidents.
