Eugene, OR — A 34-year-old woman was arrested following a multi-vehicle crash in Eugene on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. The collision, which occurred around 2 p.m., took place at the intersection of W. 6th Avenue and Blair Boulevard, according to the Eugene Police Department (EPD).
Authorities say the driver of a Mazda, identified as Porsha Naree Mueller, was traveling in a merge lane when she attempted to merge into the path of a tractor-trailer semi. The maneuver caused the semi to swerve into the lane of a Ford Explorer. The driver of the Ford Explorer attempted to avoid a collision by accelerating, but Mueller rear-ended the vehicle.
The Ford Explorer driver then pulled into a nearby auto repair business to exchange information, but Mueller left the scene, EPD reported.
The semi-truck driver, who had witnessed the events unfold, followed Mueller and was able to slowly bring her car to a stop by maneuvering it into a guard rail, effectively preventing her from fleeing further. EPD later arrived on the scene and arrested Mueller in connection with the crash.
At this time, it is unclear whether Mueller will face additional charges related to the hit-and-run incident. The investigation is ongoing.
