Eugene, OR — A 37-year-old Eugene man was arrested on Christmas Day after fleeing the scene of a single-vehicle crash and resisting arrest. The incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. near Lorane Highway and Madison, where officers responded to reports of an intoxicated driver.
Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered the driver, identified as Kyle Nathan Deddo, standing on top of a passenger van. When Deddo saw the first responding officer, he quickly fled on foot, running southbound on Lorane Highway. Despite commands to stop, he continued to evade officers.
A search for Deddo was initiated, and he was eventually located behind a residence in the area of 28th and Monroe streets. Authorities reported that Deddo was hiding under a tree. Officers repeatedly instructed him to come out, but he refused to comply. After several unsuccessful attempts to negotiate his surrender, one of the officers deployed pepper spray.
Deddo was ultimately taken into custody, though he continued to be uncooperative during the investigation. He now faces charges related to the crash and his refusal to cooperate with police. The incident highlights the ongoing efforts of Eugene law enforcement to address impaired driving and ensure public safety.
