EUGENE, Ore. — Firefighters with the Eugene Springfield Fire Department quickly contained a commercial fire early Sunday morning in the Glenwood neighborhood. The fire was reported at approximately 6:41 a.m. on January 19, with initial reports indicating visible flames under a door at the rear of a building located on the 3600 block of Franklin Boulevard.
Engine 13 from the University Station in Eugene was the first to arrive on scene, reaching the location within five minutes of dispatch. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered an active fire in a large shop area of the building. Crews immediately began efforts to gain access to the structure through a roll-up door, all while conducting a search for any potential occupants and ensuring the fire did not spread further.
Thanks to their swift response and coordinated efforts, firefighters were able to limit damage to the structure. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though fire officials have not yet released any additional details. The quick response from the Eugene Springfield Fire crews is credited with preventing the fire from causing more significant damage.
