GOSHEN, Ore. – A two-vehicle crash on Highway 99 South near milepost 1.5 in Lane County resulted in the death of a Creswell man on Monday afternoon, according to the Oregon State Police (OSP).

The incident occurred just before 3:30 p.m. on April 7, when a southbound Kenworth log truck, driven by a 52-year-old man from Cottage Grove, slowed to make a left turn. The truck was struck from behind by a southbound Toyota Matrix, driven by 29-year-old Josef Alexander Ward.

Despite efforts to save him, Ward was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later declared deceased. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Kenworth log truck was not injured in the crash.

The collision temporarily closed Highway 99 South for approximately 2.5 hours while OSP officials conducted their investigation. The Oregon Department of Transportation and Lane County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance at the scene.

OSP continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Further updates may be released as details become available.
