Family Dispute Leads to Stabbing, Arrests and Charges in Eugene, Oregon
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

EUGENE, Ore. – A violent altercation between a father and his daughter’s boyfriend has led to serious charges and revelations of prior domestic abuse. Bryan Whitecloud, 49, was arrested on February 15 after allegedly stabbing 27-year-old Donovan Young-Montgomery during a confrontation at his daughter’s apartment. Authorities were called to McKenzie-Willamette Hospital, where Young-Montgomery was being treated for stab wounds.

Court records indicate that Whitecloud, who had traveled to the area from out of town, was given the apartment key by his daughter earlier in the day. When she returned home after work, she heard a dispute and witnessed her father pushing Young-Montgomery against an apartment balcony railing. According to the woman’s statement to police, Whitecloud was upset over an alleged domestic violence incident that had occurred two weeks earlier, during which Young-Montgomery allegedly abused his daughter.

The altercation escalated quickly, resulting in significant injuries to Young-Montgomery. He sustained facial injuries and a deep laceration to his arm, which led to him being treated at the hospital. In addition to the stabbing, Young-Montgomery has since been charged with menacing in connection to the prior abuse allegations against him.

Court documents reveal that both Whitecloud and his daughter were dissatisfied with how local authorities handled the domestic abuse claim. During the investigation, police discovered two hunting knives, two pairs of brass knuckles, and a bloody key hidden inside the apartment—items that have now become part of the case as evidence.

Whitecloud now faces serious charges, including first- and second-degree assault, as well as unlawful use of a weapon. His daughter, meanwhile, has been left to navigate the aftermath of a violent family dispute that has brought to light troubling issues of abuse and aggression.

This case highlights the complexity of domestic violence situations and the tragic consequences that can arise when unresolved tensions culminate in violence. As the legal proceedings continue, both Whitecloud and Young-Montgomery will face scrutiny in the courts, with the details of their actions and motivations likely to play a critical role in the outcome.
