EUGENE, Ore. — A 38-year-old Eugene man was arrested last week on multiple felony charges after allegedly arranging online to meet a minor for sexual purposes, according to the Eugene Police Department (EPD).
Authorities identified the suspect as Frank Vincent Nelson. Police say Nelson had previously attempted to travel to Eugene to meet a child under the age of 16 but was initially prevented from doing so after being arrested by another law enforcement agency on unrelated charges. Following his release, officials say Nelson resumed communication with the minor and made new arrangements to meet.
On May 26, detectives from EPD’s Violent Crimes Unit intercepted Nelson at the agreed meeting location. Officers conducted a coordinated operation and pinned Nelson’s vehicle upon his arrival. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lane County Jail.
Nelson is facing multiple charges, including first-degree and second-degree online sexual corruption of a child, as well as luring a minor. According to Lane County Jail records, he remained in custody as of May 30.
The Eugene Police Department has not released further details regarding the nature of the investigation or whether additional suspects or victims are involved. Authorities continue to encourage parents and guardians to monitor children’s online activity and report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement.
