EUGENE, Ore. – Motorists in the Coburg Road area should brace for lane closures and potential delays today as city crews work to repair a traffic light pole that was damaged in a crash Tuesday night.
According to city officials, the damage occurred when a semi-truck failed to navigate a right-hand turn, striking the pole. The crash resulted in the need for extensive repairs to the traffic signal infrastructure at the busy intersection of Coburg Road and Chad Drive.
Public works crews are expected to begin repairs immediately, with flagging crews setting up traffic diversions to manage the flow of vehicles. Lane closures are primarily expected to impact northbound Coburg Road and westbound Chad Drive.
Officials warned that the intersection may be intermittently closed for safety reasons as crews conduct the necessary repairs. Given the heavy traffic that frequently clogs the area, city representatives are advising drivers to consider alternative routes to avoid delays.
Motorists traveling in the area are also encouraged to exercise extra caution and patience while navigating the work zones, as the safety of both workers and drivers is a top priority. The city has not yet provided an estimated time for the completion of the repairs.
