Astoria, OR – Astoria Police Department officials released the following statement:

“Today kicks off the start of the national Click it or Ticket campaign that runs through June 2.

The Astoria Police Department will be joining other state and local law enforcement agencies in conducting high visibility enforcement of state seat belt laws.

During this campaign officers will be working additional hours looking for vehicle occupants, drivers and passengers, who are not wearing their seat belts.

The goal of this campaign is not citations but rather to save lives and prevent serious injuries.

If you have any questions about this project, contact Sergeant Thomas Litwin at 503-325-4411 or by email at tlitwin@astoria.or.us. As always, your concerns and feedback are important to us.”
