Astoria, OR – Astoria Police Department officials released the following statement:
“Please welcome Officer Sladek to the Astoria Police Department. This is an important hire because it is the first time we have been fully staffed with officers in over 2 ½ years!
Officer Sladek was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ, and graduated from Estrella Foothills High School. He joined the United States Navy as an Undesignated Seaman and served on the USS Tortuga.
During his time on the USS Tortuga, Stephen fell in love with security and anti-terrorism and started on the path of becoming a Master-at-Arms (Military Police).
After Military police and K9 school, he received orders to Naval Air Station Fallon in Nevada, where he served as an explosive k9 handler with his detection dog Granger.
In his free time, Stephen enjoys working out, reading novels, and visiting new places with his wife.”
