Astoria, OR – According to the police officials, the academy was 16 weeks long and consisted of classroom and practical training.

Astoria Police Department officials released the following statement:

“He now moves into the field training phase, where he will ride with a senior officer for approximately three more months.

The senior officer will ensure that he safely and appropriately applies what he learned at the academy.

We will also take this time to ensure that Officer Michaelson learns the Astoria nuances of the job and thoroughly understands our policies and procedures before being released to independent patrol.”
