Eugene, Ore. — A Eugene man has been sentenced to a decade in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts related to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, the Lane County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Bryan Bennion, 49, was sentenced on April 25, 2025, to 10 years in prison followed by three years of post-prison supervision. Upon release, Bennion will also be required to register as a sex offender.
The investigation into Bennion began in June 2024 when the Eugene Police Department received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip led officers to evidence suggesting that Bennion had obtained and shared explicit material involving the sexual abuse of children.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, police executed a search warrant for Bennion’s cell phone, which revealed multiple files depicting child sexual exploitation. Investigators determined that Bennion had downloaded the files through links shared on a Telegram account and later uploaded them to a separate online cloud storage service.
In June 2024, Bennion was formally charged with nine counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse. He pleaded guilty to all charges on March 25, 2025.
Authorities emphasized the severity of the offenses and the importance of interagency cooperation in combating the distribution of child sexual abuse material online.
“The successful prosecution of this case is the result of a collaborative effort between national and local agencies dedicated to protecting children and holding offenders accountable,” the Lane County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
