EUGENE, Ore. — A Eugene man is behind bars facing a long list of charges following an extensive investigation into a series of burglaries targeting local businesses and food carts over the past several months, according to the Eugene Police Department.
Raymond Joseph Janczyk, 55, was arrested on April 23, 2025, after detectives located him at a residence in West Eugene. Officers, assisted by a K-9 unit, took Janczyk into custody without incident. Police said he was initially arrested on outstanding warrants for second-degree theft and a parole violation, as well as additional charges related to domestic abuse menacing and fourth-degree assault.
The arrest marks the culmination of a months-long investigation launched in September 2024 by the Eugene Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit. Authorities began receiving reports of multiple burglaries involving businesses and food carts across the city. Over the following six months, more victims came forward, and detectives gathered surveillance images and other evidence, which ultimately led them to identify Janczyk as the primary suspect.
Following his arrest, Janczyk was formally charged with nine counts of second-degree burglary, nine counts of second-degree criminal mischief, and one count each of first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal trespass, and second-degree attempted burglary.
Police said the investigation was a coordinated effort that relied on community tips, surveillance footage, and persistent detective work. Officials have not disclosed the total value of items stolen or damaged in the burglaries, but they confirmed that the incidents caused significant disruption for affected small businesses and food vendors.
Janczyk remains in custody at the Lane County Jail as the investigation continues.
