Coos Bay, Ore. — Henry Delaney, III, a 44-year-old gym owner and head trainer of Northwest Fitness in Coos Bay, is facing serious allegations of sexually abusing teenage girls, court records reveal. Multiple victims have come forward with accounts of inappropriate behavior spanning several months.
The 16-year-old victim reported that Delaney engaged in a pattern of misconduct, including touching disguised as unauthorized massages or physical therapy sessions, forcing her to cuddle with him, groping, and engaging her in unwanted sexual conversations lasting for hours. Additional victims have described similar experiences, with some alleging that Delaney would lay on top of them under the pretense of “stretching them out.”
Delaney was initially arrested on charges of second-degree sexual abuse but has since been released pending ongoing court proceedings. According to court documents, he told a detective he was not surprised by the investigation but later declined to speak, expressing a wish to be jailed.
The allegations add to a troubling history. Delaney is a registered sex offender with previous convictions related to sexual abuse. In 2009, he was convicted in Washington for abusing a female student at his gym in Seattle. Court records also describe an incident in Medford where Delaney allegedly kept a scrapbook of Polaroid photos of a victim “to remember her.”
The troubling pattern of behavior appears to extend to Delaney’s family. His father, Henry Delaney, Jr., resigned from an Oregon teaching position in the 1990s following allegations that included sexually abusing an eighth-grade student.
Authorities have obtained a search warrant as part of their investigation. The case remains pending, and officials have not yet announced additional charges.
