Bozeman couple keeps holiday magic alive with drive-thru light display

BOZEMAN, Mont. — A couple in Bozeman is spreading some holiday cheer with their annual light display.

“Each year it’s been getting bigger and bigger,” said Sherri Sigwardt.

This is Sigwardt’s 20th year putting on her Christmas light display, and you’d think she was planning for a global pandemic this whole time. Her display is drive-thru — this year more important than ever — allowing families to stay in the safety of their cars while still taking in some holiday magic.

“Especially this year, we wanted to really do it bigger because of the COVID, and we want to just to try to bring some joy to the neighborhood,” Sigwardt said.

She even has Santa peeking through her window, albeit virtually, to wish everyone a happy holiday.

These aren’t your typical holiday house decorations — some of the sets on the property were actually handmade by Sigwardt herself.

When she couldn’t find decorations she liked, she grabbed some plywood sheets and paint and did it herself.

“We have crates and crates of things so I can alternate, and every year we get to put up like four or five, six new things,” Sigwardt said.

She says her display is so popular, some families have told her it’s their Christmas tradition.

In the last two weeks, they’ve already had more than 1,400 cars drive through.

Sigwardt says she keeps doing the display year after year because, “It just makes me so happy. I am glad that it makes other people happy as well. It really does make me happy.”

If you want to visit Sigwardt’s display yourself, you can stop by 8670 Fowler Lane.
